Berts Mega Mall | Powersports Hub

Have you ever been out about having a great time until you realize you forgot something that you meant to bring last time? There are many things to remember to bring with you and sometimes it’s easy to forget what you need so we are here to help you organize items we feel should be with you when you in the dunes having fun!

Map of the Area:

Carrying a map of the area you will be riding in is a good idea so that you are not driving somewhere blindly. We all rely pretty heavily on our “smart” phones and service can be spotty at best in some of those out of the way areas so have a map of the area can be a real lifesaver! This also includes GPS (if you have one, don’t forget it). GPS will do an even better job at keeping you on track and are more user-friendly than a map. Landmarks are also crucial so if you have the hill that looks like a saddle or a lone phone tower visible use those so you can always come back to those areas.

Extra tip: it is really exciting to head out once you get your vehicle on the trail but make sure you have a full tank of gas before you leave your camp!

Tow Ropes:

Tow ropes are another staple of riding off-road and especially in the dunes! Carrying multiple tow ropes are essential to your trip for various reasons such as if you get stuck you could ask someone to tow you out and let them use your rope or, the other way around, you could tow someone out. Just be sure to have these on hand so that you can get help or help out.

Extra tip: While riding don't forget to drink plenty of water as you can quickly become dehydrated without even knowing it. And of course always pack extra water no matter what!

Tire Plugs & Repair Kit:

A tire repair kit is something you should carry on you when riding in the dunes. You never know when you’ll experience a flat tire or small puncture from some hidden item under the sand but having a tire repair kit can help you get back to camp if you’re not that far. A plug-in air compressor is also nice to have along in the event of a flat tire because you can plug it but will need some air get it back to the proper psi.

Extra tip:  You may end up a little farther than expected and feel tired. Bring some energy packed food to get you back and ready to go.

Spare Tool/Parts:

Carrying the right spare tools/parts can make or break your trip. Most people carry extra belts for their UTV’s which is an excellent idea. As well as an air compressor, extra plugs, ball joints, and snapping pliers, adjustable wrenches, safety wires, duct tape, and zip ties. These handy items can save you from having to go home earlier than you wanted to or helping someone out.

Extra tip: The sun can be very unforgiving so don’t forget to apply some sunscreen before heading out otherwise you’ll be sorry.

First Aid Kit:

We hope you never have to use a first aid kit but this is something you should carry on you for those little accidents that happen at any time. They can also buy you some time to get to the appropriate care to take care of any injuries that the first aid kit may not be able to cover.

Carrying these items will make your trip easier and more enjoyable as well as give you some piece of mind in the event that any of the above incidents were to happen. Once you’ve gathered all of the right things for your riding you’re set and ready to go have some fun out in the dunes!
