RZR PRO XP Ultimate Vs. Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR
Berts Mega Mall | Powersports Hub
It’s no secret that Polaris® and Can-Am® have taken over the majority of the sport SXS world. Both of these companies have so many different options to fit each off-roaders needs and wants that it can be overwhelming! We will be comparing two industry-leading vehicles from each brand, the Polaris® RZR Pro XP Ultimate, and the Can-Am® Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR. We will go in-depth on each category and see who comes out as the winner!
Power:
We all want the most powerful and fast machine to handle the dunes or desert trails we are faced with. Both machines are very powerful but which is most? Polaris® redesigned and improved their horsepower and now reaches up to 181 hp. This is a pretty impressive improvement for Polaris®, however, Can-Am® blows them out of the water with their 195hp. The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR also has a Rotax ACE 900 cc Turbocharged Triple-cylinder engine with a bigger turbo, new intercooler, and less restrictive airbox.
Winner: It is an easy decision to say the Can-Am® Maverick X3 XRS TURBO RR is the winner when it comes to which is more powerful!
Fuel Capacity:
If you are the one to plan long and action-packed trips without returning to camp or having a nearby gas station fuel capacity may be of interest to you. While you should always have a little extra fuel in a fuel can, an extra gallon or two that you SXS can hold is helpful. The Can-Am® Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has a 10.5-gallon tank that can take you far. But the Polaris® RZR XP PRO Ultimate has a 12-gallon tank that could potentially take you a little farther.
Winner: The Polaris® RZR PRO XP Ultimate takes the winner in this category because its 1.5 gallons more that it is able to hold.
Drivability:
Choosing which has the best drivability will all depend on where you ride. For narrow trail riding the RZR XP, PRO Ultimate would be the winner because of its 64” width. The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR is 72” wide which is perfect for those open trails across the desert. Each SXS will have a different comfort feel to it and if the width is no issue to you, sitting in one to make sure you are comfortable is your best bet.
Winner: Tie! The winner would be based on what you use it for.
Suspension:
Both of these SXS has two different suspension systems that do an amazing job. The RZR PRO XP Ultimate has the FOX 2.5 Podium Internal Bypass Shocks (Electronically controlled damping) and High-Clearance Dual A-Arm with a stabilizer bar and 20 in of usable travel. And the Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has FOX 2.5 PODIUM RC2 Piggyback with bypass, Double A-arm with sway bar and 22-in of usable travel. The rear suspension is FOX 3.0 PODIUM RC2 remote reservoir with bypass and 4-link Torsional Trailing-arm X.
Winner: The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR takes the winner in this category because of the detail put into the front and back shocks.
Lighting:
Lighting on you SXS is important especially if you will be riding in the dark. The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has LED headlights and tail lights with a unique Can-Am® LED signature. While the RZR PRO XP Ultimate comes with Signature White LED, Low/High & Red LED Tail / Brake Lights; Front, Rear, and Interior and Exterior Accent Lighting which adds to visibility at night and adds some high-end automotive look to the RZR.
Winner: RZR PRO XP Ultimate as this car lights up the night and is so easy to spot at night!
Wheels:
You want to make sure you have the proper wheels to handle the terrain they’re on. Both of these SXS have great wheels but which is better? The RZR PRO XP Ultimate has 30’ MAXXIS Carnivore on a non-Beadlock rim while the Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has 30’ Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 on a factory Beadlock rim. The beauty of the Beadlock rim is if you get a flat tire you can slowly and safely get the unit back to camp without the tire falling off AND if you got the dunes you can also safely drop the tire pressure into the single digits without the tire spinning off.
Winner: Maverick X3 XRS takes this one simply because the bead locks off versatility and safety.
Electronics:
Having an SXS that carries the latest technology and newest features in it is always a plus because they’re set in place to make your riding experience easier and more fun. The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has a 7.6-in. digital display with keypad while the RZR PRO XP Ultimate comes with factory audio and rides command/GPS built-in plus it features electronic suspension controls right in the steering wheel. Ride Command is a very popular feature that has introduced a world of off-road connection at your fingertips.
Winner: With the Ride Command/GPS and electronic suspension built-in, we have to say the RZR PRO XP Ultimate is the winner for the best electronics.
OEM Accessories:
OEM Accessories are accessories that already come with your SXS so you don’t need to go and buy additional ones. Both SXS come with 4-point harnesses, race-inspired seats and steering wheels. One thing that will set the Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR aside from the XP PRO is that it comes with a roof.
Winner: The winner of the best OEM accessories is Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR because it comes with the roof.
Width:
Both of these SXS come with different widths. The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has a 72” width which is great for wide-open trails across the desert or dunes. The RZR XP PRO Ultimate is 64” wide which is great for tighter trails through the forest or canyons. There is no winner here because it is all based on what type of riding you do!
Winner: Tie! The winner would be based on what you use it for.
Price:
Price is a very big factor when it comes to choosing which SXS best fits your lifestyle. The RZR PRO XP Ultimate has an MSRP of $28,500. While the Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR has an MSRP of $27,500. There is only a $1,000 difference so between them making the Maverick X3 XRS “the winner” in this category.
Winner: The Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR is the winner having an MSRP of $27,500, $1000 cheaper.
Conclusion:
So which is the winner overall? We’ll let you decide! Each category we have gone through has had a winner for the most part but the Maverick X3 XRS Turbo RR offers somethings better than the XP PRO Ultimate and vice versa. Each of these are great SXS, which is why they are dominating the SXS market. We hope this helps you in making the decision on which SXS is right for you.
