From taking a stroll along the Colorado River, planning a day trip to the Davis Dam or just floating in the cool waters of the Colorado River the options are endless! About Laughlin, NV:
What to Expect:
Laughlin is a city about 90 miles south of Las Vegas and is known for its entertainment and water recreation opportunities. Whether you are more of an outdoorsy adventurous person or someone who wants to kick back and relax by the water, you can easily find something enjoyable to do. The summers here can be on the hot side and winters are more on the cooler side but overall it is dry and clear all year round. There are definitely more visitors from May to September as those are the hotter months and visitors can hop in the refreshing waters of the Colorado River.
How to Get There From…
Arriving to Laughlin, NV is quite simply because there is not too much of a route change if you are coming from any of its nearby neighbors.
California- I-15 north to Barstow; I-40 east to Needles, Calif. Exit on River Road cutoff, turn north for 22 miles on Needles Highway to Casino Drive, turn right. Approximately 283 miles from Los Angeles; 5 hours. Approximately 335 miles from San Diego; 6 hours.
Arizona-U.S. 93 north to I-40 west through Kingman. Take the Bullhead City/Las Vegas exit and turn right at the signal at the end of the exit ramp. Continue west taking the Highway 68 ramp toward Bullhead City/Laughlin. Highway 68 merges into Arizona Highway 95. Turn right at the Laughlin Bridge. Approximately 225 miles from Phoenix; 4 hours.
Where to Stay?
When in Laughlin you have a few options of where you can stay. You can choose to stay at one of their many resorts, bring an RV to stay at an RV park, or also camp out in a tent.
RV Camping
Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area: Big Bend boasts a 24-unit campground that is accessible year-round. All sites are on a first come, first served basis, reservations are not available. All sites are designed to accommodate RVs with hook-ups for water, electric and sewer. In addition, most of the sites have pull-through parking pads that can accommodate any size RV. The sites also have a tent pad, a shade ramada, barbecue grill, and fire pit. Three of the sites are ADA equipped and available for those visitors with the proper ADA permit. Other amenities include restroom and shower facilities
Resort or RV Camping:
Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort & RV Park: There are over 1,300 rooms and 740 full hook-ups in the RV Park. Family style fun can be found in many places throughout the resort. Adult entertainment can be found in the gaming areas of the 76,000 square foot casino or bingo parlor. Take a scenic, narrated cruise along the river, rent personal watercraft or enjoy a treatment in the Jean Jeffrey Day Spa & Salon.

Edgewater Hotel & Casino:
Centrally located on the West bank of the Colorado River, the Edgewater Casino Resort has more than 1,000 comfortable guest rooms, many with breathtaking views of the river or majestic mountain ranges. The Edgewater offers in-room guest services, six great restaurants including an award-winning buffet, as well as fine dining and fast food outlets, free live entertainment weekly, full-service beauty salon, fitness room, gift shop, boat-trailer, and RV parking and free on-property security patrolled covered parking. The Edgewater has an electric vehicle charging station located just inside the entrance to the parking garage.
What to do in Laughlin, NV:
Get on the Water!
With proper registration and responsibility take your watercraft up to Laughlin and enjoy the huge Colorado River. You can launch your watercraft from either, Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area or Princess Cover Launch Ramp.
There are many rental places all around Laughlin and some resorts even offer them. If you are staying at a resort that offers watercraft rentals you could rent from there and make your returning process much easier. There are also canoe and kayak rentals available if you are in the mood for a little slower fun.
Fishing:
Laughlin is not all about gambling and resort life, but also full of outdoor recreation activities, like fishing! You can find some note-worthy fish here, like bluegill and sunfish, and rainbow trout and striped bass are other popular catches. You are required to have a fishing license from the Nevada side of the river. There are also limits on how much you can catch so be sure to familiarize yourself with the basic rules and regulations. Fishing can be easily done from Big Bend State Recreation Area, so that is a bonus if you are already staying there!
London Jet Tours:
Join London Bridge Jet Boat Tours and experience an incredible sightseeing journey down the rugged Colorado River. Sit back, relax and enjoy the amazing scenery while London Bridge Jet Boat Tours takes you on a fun-filled day excursion that’s perfect for the whole family. Travel 58 miles down the Colorado River through beautiful Topock Gorge, en route to the world famous London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Witness some of the West’s most wondrous attractions during this scenic adventure. Only accessible by river, Topock Gorge features breathtaking views of volcanic rock faces, enchanting emerald waters, ancient Indian petroglyphs, along with a variety of desert wildlife.
Davis Dam:
Take a trip to visit the Davis Dam that is only about 8 miles away from all of the Casinos in Laughlin, about a 15-minute drive. Visitors can either walk on the dam or take their boats or jet skis and hang out nearby. Easily accessible activities include camping, boating, picnicking, fishing, and historic & cultural sites. Davis Dam spans the Colorado River in Pyramid Canyon 67 miles downstream from Hoover Dam and 88 miles upstream from Parker Dam.
Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trails:
Several miles of Laughlin’s northern Colorado Riverfront is transformed into a recreational paradise known as the North Reach Trails. A trails system offering a variety of walks and hikes, practical fishing nodes and a fully appointed day-use park! There is also horseback riding opportunities giving you another activity to do throughout your day!
