👇 Things To Do

Historic Mojave Road

The best treasure in Rasor Road is a pair of tracks called Mojave Road. This famous trail cross through the middle of Rasor Road and is one of the routes that brought American pioneers to California. This road is 138 miles long and it is in the same condition in which the pioneers found it. This road is part of history and definitely worth visiting.

Insider Tip: This road is mostly a 4-wheel drive trail

The Bowl:

The famous Sand Bowl in Rasor Road is exactly what its called: a massive sand bowl in the mountains. This bowl is one of the most popular spots for sand duning because it is so much fun to ride. It is one of the bigger dunes in the area so riders enjoy the thrill of going up and down the hill. You can ride the sand bowl in your dirt bike, ATV, SXS or UTV.

Afton Canyon:

The Afton Canyon is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Mojave Desert” because of its dramatic formations. This is the only place where the Mojave River flows above ground year-round providing a riverbank and a wildlife habitat. There is also Afton Canyon Road, a 19.8-mile trail that is used for hiking camping and off-road adventures. This is the perfect place for friends family to see some birds and wildlife as well as explore the off-road trails.

Conquer "The 400"

If you are the ultimate off-road enthusiast then you must visit and attempt to conquer “The 400” hill. Many say that this hill got its name from the CC’s of the first motorcycle to even make it to the top of the hill. This hill looks to be super easy when you look at it from the ground, but looks can be deceiving. The journey gets tough when it begins to get very steep near the top, therefore, making it very hard for anything to make it to the top of the hill. Give it a try the next time you go and conquer the 400!

Look for Wildlife

Rasor Road is the perfect spot for plant, bird, and wildlife watching! Look out for wandering donkeys or desert tortoise along the riding areas. Some of these animals are federally protected species so do not handle or disturb the animals. Rasor Road is a special landmark area so digging up or destroying trees and shrubs is also prohibited.

Insider Tip: If you want to see some amazing wildlife we recommend you do it in the early morning and evening hours because that is when they are most seen.

Go to the Megaphone

The megaphone in the middle of the Mojave Desert is the go-to attraction to find when visiting Rasor Road. An 8-foot long mega phone is bolted down on two rocks on top of a 100-foot hill. Many travels who visit this area have searched for an explanation as to why there is a random megaphone in the middle of the desert, but no one really knows how it got there or why it is there. One theory suggests that the megaphone was used to amplify a siren that alerted the locals when the U.S. Army was conducting secret chemical or gas testing in the area. With this being just a theory, I guess we will never know and the megaphone will continue to be a mystery.

Insider Tip: The megaphone can be found atop a 100-foot hill, west of Crucero Road (a dirt road), about 14 miles south of I-15

Take an Epic Hike

Aside from off-road riding, Rasor Road also offers some of the most epic hiking sceneries. Afton Canyon has a beautiful landscape of hills, canyons, washes, and stream channels that make it a good hiking trail to experience the nature of Rasor Road.
