Glamis
Perhaps the number 1 dune destination in the western US and with good reason, there’s golden sand as far as the eye can see. This means you can completely unleash the adventurous spirit in your blood through your off-road vehicle: jumps, drag races, and bottomless dune bowls, you can do it all here. Off-roading and camping in the desert are a way of life for tens of thousands of people in Southern California and Arizona who also regularly camp at Glamis over Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Presidents Day. The dunes draw approximately a million people every year, with visitors driving an average of 300 miles to get there. It’s easy to see why Glamis is a favorite location for OHV enthusiasts and generations have been coming here year after year.
Johnson Valley
Johnson Valley offers riding styles and opportunities for every skill level and every kind of terrain from dirt, rock, and dune. The riding area can be entered from Highway 247 at Old Woman Springs Road or Camp Rock Road, 55 miles southeast of Barstow which for most Socal residents makes it an easy day trip since it is almost all freeway to get there. Johnson Valley can see thousands of visitors every weekend, due to the vast camping space and styles of trails. Numerous dry lakebeds in Johnson Valley are used for beginners and children to practice on, while more advanced riders enjoy the technical hill climbs. No matter what you like to ride this place has something for everyone!
Oceano Dunes SVRA (Pismo Beach)
This unique recreation area is located in Oceano, three miles south of Pismo Beach off Highway 1. Oceano Dunes is also the only California State Park where vehicles may be driven on the beach. Four wheel drive / all-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for driving on the beach and to the camping and off-highway vehicle use areas in the park. The most popular activity at Pismo is course riding motorcycles, SXS's and ATV's on the dunes, but with the Pacific Ocean right there you can also enjoy any kind of beach recreation.
