👇
Here are some of our favorite places/spots to go to in Glamis that you should definitely check out on your next trip to the dunes!

Hangout at "The Ledge”during Sunset

Watching the sun go down while off-roading is one of the best experiences you can have at the dunes. You cannot leave the Glamis dunes without experiencing the beautiful sunsets that transpire.  Without a doubt, the best place to watch the sunset in Glamis is at the Ledge. This spot is one of the taller peaks in Glamis which makes it the go-to spot for watching the sun go down. There is a decent area for vehicles to park so this spot has become fairly popular.

Insider Tip:

This area of the dunes can get pretty crowded during sunsets so plan to show up early so you can park your vehicle and have a good view of the sunset.

Oldsmobile Hillat Night:

Oldsmobile Hill is definitely the most popular hill at Glamis. It is a giant sand dune located in the center of the Glamis sand dunes where people gather to hang out all day and watch everyone race up and down the hill. Those who have been to Glamis will tell you that Oldsmobile Hill at night is an incredible site. From the starry skies to the blur of lights making tracks up, down and around Oldsmobile Hill, this is a site you do not want to miss.

The Sand Drags:

The “Sand Drags” is a flat drag strip where people race for fun. There is a line of people standing across from each other and buggy’s, quads, and bikes race in between them.  Park your vehicle along either side of the drag strip to watch and/or participate in the races. This place is where the "best of the best" custom sand rails, buggies, and UTV's come to show off their power.
The Sand Drags are located at Gecko Road, by Pad 1.

Insider Tip:
The races begin about 3 or 4 pm and go on until sunset

Get some "Glamis Crack”

You have to make sure you get some of the world famous “Glamis Crack.” Glamis Crack are deep-fried Oreos with Vanilla ice cream from Daddy’s Famous Food “Glamis Diner.” It is a great dessert to have at the dunes and the kids and adults alike will love it!

Art Wood's Swing Set:

This swing set is exactly what it sounds like, a giant swing set in the middle of nowhere. This is a fairly new family-friendly destination built as a memorial for our good friend Art Wood who loved the dunes and was a great friend to many. The swing set is a perfect destination to take the kids and catch a break from riding while they play for a bit.

Insider Tip:
There is a natural jump that has become famous for dirt bike riders. It is located on one of the larger dunes facing the swingset. Try to find it!

The Flag Pole:

The Flag Pole has become fairly popular at the dunes. It is a flag that has been placed on a large metal box big enough for people to jump on top of it and take some cool photos. This place is special because the box is one of 5 that were supposedly dropped in the dunes and used for target practice for the military. The flag pole has been at the dunes since 2000, and now even has a solar light up top to keep it lit up at night.

Insider Tip:
The "Flag Pole" is a MUST-DO on Veterans Day! Thousands of people gather here and usually jets that fly over-head!

The Glamis "Tiki Huts":

The Tiki Hut has been a new fan favorite at the dunes. The Tiki Hut has a teeter-totter and even a BBQ. People tend to leave hats and bandanas hung all around the Tiki Hut.
There is a "take something, leave something" idea here, people leave things in the mailbox, the rafters of the hut, and other places. There are actually 2 different Tiki Huts in Glamis, this hut we featured is slightly larger. They are only a couple of miles apart from each other and are very similar. It is a nice place to take a break from riding and just relax before continuing with your ride.

Insider Tip:
The Tiki Hut is about 2 miles South of Road Runner Campground and just West of the Sand Highway that runs from Roadrunner to Gordon’s Well.

Take a Ride to Dunes Diner:

Take a break from dunning and stop by the Duners Diner for some good food, excellent service, and fun people. The Duners Diner is a fun place to relax from the sand to grab a bite to eat and just hang out. Aside from offering some delicious food, the Diner also has a store, TV's at every corner to catch up on a game, a volleyball and basketball court, and a sandbox for the kids to play in.

Insider Tip:
-The ride to Duners Diner is mostly sandy desert trails and washes, so this is a great destination if you want to take a break from dune riding.
-Get here for breakfast and try the legendary "Heart Attack Bowl".

Climb the Legendary "China Wall”:

The China Wall is a giant sand dune located deep into the dunes at Glamis. It is one of the tallest and steepest hills at Glamis which is why many duners enjoy riding up and down the hill. Racing up the China Wall is a MUST so make sure you stop by before your trip ends. Can you conquer it?

Insider Tip:

There are several ways to get to the China Wall: you can take the sand road or take the most exciting route through the bowls

Go to Vendor Row:

Before you leave the Glamis Dunes, make sure you check out the vendor row for some awesome souvenirs. Vendor Row is right next to the Beach Store where you can find almost everything you need at Glamis; delicious food, firewood, souvenirs, and even parts for your broken vehicle. Don’t forget to stop by and say hi to the legendary Krazy Kevin! He loves meeting new sand dune enthusiasts!

Conclusion:
The Glamis Sand Dunes are so much more than just endless sand. Aside from having the thrill of your life riding your off-road vehicle, there are several other things you and your family can do during your trip. Visit some or all of these locations and enjoy everything Glamis has to offer. You will love it so much, you will want to go back again and again!
