Whether you are a beginner rider or maybe looking to get a smaller but still dependable motorcycle, the Yamaha Bold or Honda® Rebel have both came up on the list of possible choices.

Both the Yamaha Bolt and Honda® Rebel have similarities, but they also have differences that make them outshine each other. So which motorcycle is better? It can be a tough call when the facts are not laid on the table. With that being said, we will be comparing the Honda® Rebel 500 and the Yamaha Bolt and we will let you decide!

Style:

Looks matter. Some riders prefer a certain look or aesthetic on their bike. While both of these bikes do have a very similar laid back look you can still see differences. The Honda® Rebel is known for their blacked-out look and also notice its compact frame and a low-slung seat. The Yamaha Bolt is stripped down with minimal chrome, epitomizing the “Urban Performance Bobber” look and also considered to have a compact frame.

Winner: TIE! We consider this to be a tie because style depends on personal preference. The main difference that can help you make your decision is whether you want chrome or blacked outlook.

Best Speed:

Everyone has a need for speed and every motorcycle has some to offer. Some better than others. If you are looking for some speed and have decided a Yamaha Bolt or Honda® Rebel are you two choices for other reasons the fastest out of the two is said to be the Yamaha Bolt with a top speed of 101 and the Honda® Rebel with a top speed of 95 mph. Keep in mind if you are looking for something more powerful these two awesome bikes may not be the best option for your lifestyle. These bikes are not meant to run at high speeds constantly. But overall, the Yamaha Bolt has hit the highest speed.

Winner: Yamaha Bolt! Riders have confirmed topped out speed for a Yamaha Bolt could reach up to 101 mph.

Customizations:

Many riders really value the ability to personalize their motorcycle and for good reason. Adding accessories is a great way to show off how you like your ride and sometimes customization options just improve your overall riding experience. You can choose to build your motorcycle up via the manufacturer’s website or also purchase accessories as you go. The Honda® Rebel offers accessories to add a passenger seat and also footpeg access. There are many additional cargo, electrical, and protections accessories that are all OEM. (Based off of Honda®’s Website.) Yamaha offers taller handlebars and also the option to add a side cover set onto your bike. They also offer rear steel fenders.

Winner: Honda® Rebel! From the looks of it, the Honda® Rebel has more accessory options that are OEM and also aftermarket.

Ride Quality:

When it comes to riding quality and handling, it can be said that these two motorcycles are not the most powerful thing on the market but they are a great starting point or milestone to reach. The Honda® Rebel has a 471cc 6-speed liquid-cooled engine which is great to help overcome excessive heat from the engine, however, the Yamaha Bolt has a 942cc air-cooled engine. The Yamaha Bolt has 51 MPG and the Honda® Rebel has 61 MPG. This makes both of them great bikes for commuting.

Winner: Yamaha Bolt! We decided the Yamaha Bolt would win in this category because of the power it can deliver!

Price:

Sometimes a decision can only be broken between prices. If you’re stuck in the middle of which bike to choose and you want to go with the lower-priced one then the…….Rebel (500) will be your go-to here. A Rebel 500 has an MSRP of $6,199 and the Yamaha Bolt has an MSRP of $7,999. Of course, you can always be on the lookout for sales or purchase pre-owned but if you’re looking to buy new the Rebel 500 will take this category.

Winner: Honda® Rebel

The Winner is........

This might always be an ongoing debate between the Yamaha Bolt and the Honda® Rebel. With so many comparisons out there it may be fair to say there is no clear winner. The best motorcycle between both of them will all be based on YOU, the rider’s personal preference and opinion. The Yamaha Bolt offers better speed and rides quality but the Honda® Rebel offers more options for accessories (like a passenger seat, that can allow you to transport more than just yourself) and has a slightly better price. Just know these are both great beginner bike and also perfect for riders looking for a cool bike to downsize on, ultimately the choice is yours to decide what features and facts are most important to you!
